The Oklahoma City Human Resource Society is now
offering a convenient and cost-effective way for you to meet your 2013
educational and networking requirements.
The2013 MEETING AND MEMBERSHIP PRE-PAY OPTION cost
will be $250 – which basically gives you a free meeting and
lets you take advantage of this convenient (only one invoice or purchase
order to generate) membership renewal and meeting pre-pay opportunity. This
option is available until January 31st, 2013.
Beginning in 2013, the monthly meeting cost will
increase to $25 due to rising catering service and event
registration costs – annual membership dues will remain at $50
per year. While we regret this rate increase (the first in 5
years), you can’t beat the value that OCHRS chapter membership
provides – great networking events and the opportunity to earn 12 –
15 HRCI recertification credits each year. And don’t
forget other advantages of OCHRS membership include the annual Member
Appreciation Holiday event in December, eligibility for the HR Pro
Awards and the discounts OCHRS membership provides for other
conferences, etc.

TRANSITIONING MEMBERSHIP
What is a transitioning membership?
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) provides active
members who are unemployed at the time of the membership renewal a
one-time opportunity to extend their membership for up to one year—at no
cost! SHRM believes this continued affiliation to our loyal members will
help transitioning members stay current on the issues impacting the HR
profession and provide them with the needed resources to assist them in
their job search.
OCHRS is now offering the same opportunity for local chapter
affiliation!
Who qualifies for transitioning membership?
Any active OCHRS member who is unemployed at the time of his or
her membership expiration date or becomes unemployed up to 90 days after
the membership lapses. Additionally, the member must be
unemployed at the time he or she applies for a transitioning membership.
No refunds will be given for renewals already paid and processed.
Student members do not qualify for transitioning membership status.
(For 2010, OCHRS will extend this opportunity through July for
unemployed 2009 members who have not renewed membership status.)
Before activating an OCHRS transitioning membership, the requestor
must communicate his or her unemployment status to Michelle Gibson, VP

Important notice about OCHRS transitioning membership:
Transitioning membership is available to members ONE TIME ONLY
and will not begin until OCHRS has been contacted and past membership has
been verified. Members will be notified when the membership has been
approved and reactivated. Application for transitioning membership must be
requested and approved before renewal is activated. No refunds will
be given if a membership is renewed and then an individual loses their
job. Benefits of transitioning membership are subject to change or
cancellation without notice.
