The Team Leader of Leave Administration drives program administration of the company’s leave of absence (LOA) programs. The role provides guidance to a team of individual contributors (Benefits and Leave Analysts). The Team Leader monitors performance of direct reports and ensures LOA programs are implemented and executed throughout the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the oversight and administration of all LOA programs, including but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and Workers Compensation
- Builds strong partnerships with internal clients across the Human Resources and Legal departments
- Provides day to day leadership to team members
- Ensures administration of the LOA plans are in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws; identifies gaps and proposes changes necessary to address risks
- Supports leadership with comprehensive periodic reviews of the effectiveness of LOA programs and analyzes and gathers data to support any necessary program changes
- Handles escalations and provides guidance to employees and management regarding benefits and leave questions or challenges
- Facilitates the partnership and integration that impact the LOA process, including short-term disability, Payroll, HRIS, etc.)
Supports the maintenance of documentation for internal and external audits and ensures team complies with record keeping requirements
- Manages small to mid-sized projects in leave administration
Manages the performance of direct reports, to include regular performance management and development discussions
- Compiles reports, creates presentations and presents data on LOA programs
- Assesses the functionality of the system for the needs of the Benefits and Leave team, and provides recommendations and troubleshoots system changes to HRIS team
Serves as back up to of all Benefits programs, including health benefit and 401(k) administration for compliance and efficiency
- Serves as back up with legal compliance with HIPAA, ACA, COBRA and other applicable benefit laws while completing 5500s, annual 1095 forms, PCORI filings, annual nondiscrimination testing, SARs and audits.
- Serves as back up with the benefit reconciliation on a bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
- Handles other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field
Experience:
- 5+ years progressive experience in leave administration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) or Benefits certification (CBP, CEBS)
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience leading others directly, indirectly or has served as the lead of large organizational projects collaborating with other departments.
- Benefit Administration experience
- Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge of HR and Benefits Administration policies and practices
- Experience with benefit compliance, including experience with multi-state compliance
- Experience with leading entry to mid-level team members
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Firm understanding and administration of FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Workers Compensation and HIPAA laws
- Ability to organize and compile reports and detailed information with accuracy
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Willingness and ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate across departments
