Employers Add 224,000 Jobs in June
U.S. employers added 224,000 jobs in June, and the unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7 percent, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report--a significant jump from May's 75,000 jobs added. Economists had expected an increase of at least 160,000 jobs, which would have nearly matched the average increase in each of the previous five months this year. In 2018, the average number of jobs created in each of the first five months was 196,000.
